Super Noob:
Awards

  • Have I Told You That I Am a Procrastinator?

Have I Told You That I Am a Procrastinator?

Well, I am. So it should be no surprise that I have been sitting on these awards. I have recently been given a few new awards and I'm plumb tickled (I don't really say plumb tickled in case you were wondering, it just came out, and I am leaving it). Nicole of the Young Mama Blog gifted me with these two awards, and Heidi at From 3 to 5 also gave me the Sweet Award a while back:

With the Happy 101 and the Lemonade Stand, there are instructions to list things about yourself. I did that here. Please be sure to go show Nicole and Heidi some support and visit their blog. We all like a little lovin'. If you are a follower who is new to my blog as of January, then I am giving you both of these awards. I appreciate you!

Shell from Things I Can't Say blessed me with the Kreativ Blogger Award. Thank you, Shell. If you haven't checked her out yet, please do so...and tell her I said hi! This award stipulates that I share 7 new things and then pass it on to (7) other bloggers. As for 7 things about me: 1. My favorite veggie is the artichoke. 2. I used to pray for small boobs when I was young (what?) 3. I once pooped my pants when I was 7 and couldn't climb down from the tree I was in fast enough to make it to the bathroom (I'm digging deep here). 4. I love the smell of new car tires...like in the store, I generally don't make a habit of sniffing the tires on the actual vehicle. 5. I love a good oatmeal stout. 6. I am currently pondering whether we need a new an addition to our family (yikes). 7. I blush super easily. As in...a cute boy says hello and my face immediately flushes an obvious shade of red.
I am passing this award to Melis at The Zoo Keeper's Diary, not only is she creative, but she writes so stinkin' well. Her posts are always a pleasure to read. I know it says 7, but...please cut me a break, there are some crazy numbers going on with these things, and I really want to get the post done, and the awards passed to others.

This Beautiful Blogger Award was given to me by Becky of In the Trenches, Shandal at My Life in 3D Again, please go give them some love. And, ladies, thanks for thinking of me! You're the best. This one has the very same rules as the one above. So re-read it if you feel you are being jipped. I am going to pass this one on to Sonora at Twinfinity..I am a very big fan of hers, and Allison at Life of a Tater Tot Mom...she's so down to earth, you feel like you are reading an old friend's thoughts.

The circle of friends award was given to me by Shandal at My Life in 3D since I am a fellow P90Xer...and yes, Shandal...you are a great support where that is concerned, so thank you so much. I think the BEST thing about this award is that there are no rules. NONE. But I want to pass it on anyway. So I am giving this one to Drea at Peanut Butter Jelly Days, Heidi at From 3 to 5, Shell at Things I Can't Say, Melis at The Zoo Keeper's Diary, Becky at In the Trenches, Kate at Kate's Life, Liz at Harmony Song, Keely at MannLand5, Amanda at Outnumbered by Testosterone, Nicole at A New Normal, Sonora at Twinfinity and Just a Mom at Mommy Molecules. I think you are all wonderful, and you most always make me laugh, smile or cry!

Finally, this Best Blog Award was bestowed upon me by Shelly at Picture Perfect Embossing. Once again, if I can kindly ask you to go visit her blog and show her some support, I would be so grateful. Thank you Shelly, for giving me this fun award. Now, with it I am supposed to pass it on to 15 (gulp) other bloggers! Holy cow. Um, yeah, I just can't make time for all those links, so here's the deal...

I am going to do my own version of what others have done. Instead of saying, if you are a follower, or if you are reading this, etc...I am going to say, if your blog is less than 6 months old, then scoop this one up! There you have it.

  • Last One

    Last One

Julie at The Peanut Gallery...exit here, who has wiggled her way securely into my heart, has awarded me with the Honest Scrap award. Thank you, friend. Since I began blogging, this was probably the one and only award I hoped to receive but never did...until now, of course. Now that I've got it (and I am really excited to finally have this one), I am hanging up the old "award" hat. I think they are fun, and I love it when others think of me...but at the risk of sounding like a major ingrate, I can't find the time to do the posts for them anymore. All the crazy linking, standing on your head, picking your nose, winking your left eye, and singing the Star Spangled Banner all at the same time is just a bit much for me.

So with this one I have to list 10 honest things about me. Honest? Darn it...there has to be a catch, right? I kid. I'm nothing if not honest. Anyway, here goes:

    1. When I was younger I wanted to be a doctor. As I got older, I didn't want to do the school. As I got even older, I regreted not doing the school. Unfortunately, in college I didn't have the foresight which would have enabled me to see beyond my days of bars and boys. Seriously, I wasn't all that bad...pretty mild in comparison to many. In any case, I am quite happy to be where I am today. Can't imagine what my life would be otherwise.

    2. I have eaten some really strange things in my life. As a child in particular. Among those things are dog food and fish food. Don't even ask.

    3. I once peed in a flower bed in a public place. Again, don't ask.

    4. My favorite number is 13, and my favorite colors are blue and yellow. In fact, our wedding colors were blue and yellow! Love, love, love it.

    5. The one place in the world to which I want to travel over any other, is Russia. I am hugely fascinated with their culture. I would even like to learn the language. I actually know a few words and phrases. When I was fresh out of college and living in Dever, Co. I met some people from Russia. They became good friends, and thus my desire to learn more about their culture was spawned. Kak Dela?

    6. I am currently struggling over whether or not we should change my blog tag line to "eight" little feet. Leaning toward keeping it six.

    7. I cry at commercials. I never used to do that. I used to pick on my mom because she does it. Then I had kids, and my hormones went haywire, and never worked themselves back to their original state. Sigh. Now I am as sentimental as they come.

    8. The blogs I love reading the most are those that write about "real" things. Things like their struggles in day to day life. The joy over their family, kids, etc. Humor over things to which we can all relate, and those that have great photography.

    9. Like Julie said...I love music. I agree with her so much. A song can bring you back to a place in time quicker than anything else. I can instantly feel how I felt then, smell things I smelled then. It's amazing. Led Zepplin is one group in particular that brings back a lot of memories that are near and dear to my heart.

    10. With me, what you see is what you get. Sometimes that's great, and sometimes it's not. My husband often accuses me of lacking the "filter" that others have which enables them to say things nicely. He says I can be abrasive. To his credit, he is not the only person who has said this about me. I'm perfectly okay with it. Better, I think, that you know where you stand with me. There is no wondering over what's going on in my head. Well, that last part may not be true. I mean, come on...how can you not wonder what goes on inside the head of someone who eats dog food and pees in public flower beds?

Now, I am going to pass along my last award.

The Empress at Good Day Regular People is, without question, an amazing writer. She has her heart in her blog, and I never feel bad about having spent some time "with her." If you haven't, you should go check her out and be sure to tell her I sent you!

Heide at From 3 to 5 is such a fun person. She's funny. I feel like I "get her." What I like most about her is the feeling that she doesn't put on aires. She is who she is, and is a joy because of it.

    Three more...hang with me.

Kate, at Kate's Life. I love her heart. She is just an honest to goodness "real" person. I think she radiates warmth, and I like the way she shows genuine care for others.

Melis at The Zookeeper's Diary. She was one of my first favorites. Still is. When she sits down to "put it out there," she really does. Again, she is full of heart and honest, and has moved me to tears several times.

    Finally, last but not least.

Sonora at Twinfinity. Sonora was on the verge of giving up blogging when I found her. I think she actually found me first, but I am so happy she did. And I am even happier she decided to stick with the crazy thing. I enjoy reading her posts which are riddled with funny and endearing stories.

Please, if I passed this to you, don't feel obligated to do anything with it. Chuck it if it pleases you, but I chose you because I honestly think you deserve it.

Th th th th th th, that's all folks!

  • When is Your Birthday? These Awards May be for You!

When is Your Birthday? These Awards May be for You!

It seems I have been sitting on some awards once again. I want to do this post so I can thank the people who thought of me, but I am telling you up front that I will not be following the rules tonight. I certainly want to mention all of the wonderful people who thought of me when passing out the awards. But when it comes to scratching my a$$ while simultaneously standing on one leg with my left arm in the air and bending over at the waist...I am just not up for the work. So I'll tell you what. I am going to pass all of these awards on to any bloggy friends who share my birthday month. That's April. Is your birthday in April? I want to know! And please, take any or all of these awards.

    This Sunshine award was given to me by Diana of My Lifesong. Diana and I are newly acquainted and I have been enjoying getting to know her better. Becky of In the Trenches also gave me the award...Becky is simply the best. I can't remember now how I came to find her, but I am so glad I did! It was also given to me by Rose of We Live in a Zoo. Rose and I are also fairly new to each other. I do happen to remember that she decided to follow me on a Post it note Tuesday, and she said "Glad to hear you're going to treat me right." Rose, I hope I have so far! There was one more person who thought of me with this award. I am not usually so bad at keeping track of these, but because I put it off so long, sigh, I lost her :( If you read this, and recognize that you are missing from this list...please let me know. I will do another post all about you!! ;

The Beautiful Blogger Award was given to me by Suzi at Confessions of a Fitness Instructor. You want some great exercise/health tips...go check out her blog. She even will answer direct questions in a post if you have any. Who doesn't need any fitness tips?

The Master of Karate and Friendship (freaking strange) award was given to me by Desert Rose of Desert Rose Moments. Desert Rose is a fellow Arizona blogger with a fun blog. Please go tell her hello!

This last one, You're Going Places, was given to me by Elizabeth of Our Journey Through Life. Elizabeth has been with me faithfully since nearly my blog beginning just 4.5 short months ago. She is a sweet woman with a tender heart for her family. She is a great commenter, so if you go give her some love, I am sure she will return the favor!
Will you all please do me a huge favor and go check out all of these wonderful womens' blogs? I think we'd all agree that there is nothing better than receiving comments...others letting you know they have taken the time to read what you have had to say on any given day. Be a giver today ;)

  • Regalos y Gracias or for all you (me too) gringos...Gifts and Thanks.

Regalos y Gracias or for all you (me too) gringos...Gifts and Thanks.

Having started my blog in October of this year, I never thought it would be such an awesome outlet for me. Never would I have counted on *meeting* some seriously fun and friendly people. So when people name me to receive these little awards of recognition, I'm thrilled. They are so much fun. Here are a couple I have gotten recently.

Jenna at The Neuff, Shandal at My Life in 3D Tyler at Just Another Day in Our Paradise all gave me this Happy 101 award. Thank you all for thinking of me! This one says you must list ten things that make you happy, and then pass it on to ten others.
Ten things that make me happy:
    1. Sweet lovin from my babies
    2. An earnest compliment from my husband
    3. My family
    4. A good book
    5. Being cozied up in p.j's on the couch when it's raining outside
    6. Cooking...and eating!
    7. Jeans that fit just right
    8. Working out
    9. Taking a great picture
    10. The smell of the desert after the rain
I am going to pass this on to Elizabeth at Our Journey through Life, the Molly at The Snyder 5, Tammy at My Thoughts in Color, Becky at In the Trenches, Elizabeth at Confessions of a Working Mom, Megan at All a Bunch of Momsense, Rudy Family Rukus, Liz at Harmony Song, Keely at MannLand5, and finally last but in no way least, Melis at The Zookeeper's Diary.

The next one I got is A Sweet Award from Mindi at part of me. Mindi's blog is a lot of fun, and filled with some awesome crafts you can do together with kids. Thank you Mindi for choosing me. With this award, you must thank the giver, link to their blog, list five things about yourself and then pass it on to five more people.

    Hmmm...5 things about me:
    1. I can waterski slalom
    2. I love to camp, fish and shoot a gun
    3. My first kiss was with a boy named Ari...he was 17 and I was 15
    4. When I workout, I don't just do cardio...I lift weights. I can bench press three sets of fifteen at 135lbs (but I am so not a behemoth...just strong).
    5. I drive an Expedition...and it is such a mom car. By mom car, I mean loaded with crumbs, toys, books, strollers...you get the idea.

So now to pass this one on as well. Humph. All this linking is making me need a glass of wine! Here goes: Nancy at If Evolution Really Works, Heidi at From 3 to 5, Drea at Peanut Butter Jelly Days, Amy at The Adventures of JAMC, and Amy at Mommy of the Year.

To all of you whom I forwarded these, either enjoy reading your blog, love that you are such an active commenter to mine, or both! Thank you.

  • I Promise You...This Never Gets Old!

I Promise You...This Never Gets Old!

Melis at The Zookeeper's Diary honored me with this Gorgeous Blogger Award. She is a wonderfully witty, charming and very funny lady. If you have not had the pleasure of reading her blog, then head on over. She won't disappoint.
The interesting thing about this award is that I am certain there were rules regarding passing it on at one point, but being the rule breaker that she is, Melis didn't list them. So I will make up my own. First, thanking the giver is first and foremost. Next, share three new things about yourself, and finally just pass it on...to as many or as few bloggers as you wish. I'm all about keeping it real, and simple...real simple.
Three things about me: 1) I have a neurotic compulsion with the bed covers. They have to be perfect before I get into bed. Then while I am sleeping, they have to stay neat. I can't stand it when Andy rolls over and either steals them or lets them bunch in the middle. He will never get used to it, and I will never get over it.2) I like to cook. I really like to cook, and I am pretty good at it, but I don't like using recipes. Ironic considering my Tasty Tuesdays. 3) Sharks scare me. There is no ocean in Arizona, yet I have recurring nightmares about sharks. Maybe it started with Jaws?
Now...I am passing this along to two people. The first is Menopausal New Mom. She is a character and never fails to give me a chuckle. Next is Erin at The Mother Load. I find her posts to be thoughtful, funny and highly entertaining. Both of these ladies, in fact, are highly entertaining. Stop over and say hello if you haven't already. Tell them I sent you ;)
Again, thank you, Melis for the love. It gives me a fun little thrill!

  • I Am Now a Superior Scribbler!

I Am Now a Superior Scribbler!

This award is thanks to Speaking from the Crib. I was thrilled to get it from her because, well, I think she is freakin hilarious. I mean it...H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S. Very rarely do I laugh out loud when reading blogs...at least not really loud. But hers is one for sure that I just can't wait to read because I am certain to be highly entertained. So a huge thank you to her, as this was a pretty stellar compliment.

The rules for this award are...

    1. Each Superior Scribbler I name today must in turn pass The Award on to 5 most-deserving bloggy friends.
    2. Each Superior Scribbler must link to the author and name of the blog from whom he/she has received The Award.
    3. Each Superior Scribbler must display The Award on his/her blog.
    4. Each Superior Scribbler must post these rules on his/her blog.

I know it says to pass it on to 5 blogs, but I don't feel inclined to do that. I really would rather just pay it forward to 2 tonight. Not because I am greedy and selfish. Just because I only have 2. So there you have it.

Crazy Baby Mama is another hilarious woman who is absolutely worth your time to read. Actually, I shouldn't speak for you, she is worth my time to read...which oh by the way, is on short supply these days. Crazy Baby Mama, this one's for you!

Amanda at Martinis or Diaper Genies is teetering on the edge of mommyhood and singlehood (kiss off spell check), and I can well relate. I remember those days with a sort of wistfulness. But alas, that is no longer my reality. So Amanda, here's to you.

    That's all folks!

  • Yee-Haw and Thanks! **Updated with My Choices**

Yee-Haw and Thanks! **Updated with My Choices**

    **Updated**
It is about time I stop procrastinating (though I do that so well). Without further delay, and in no order of preference, here are my selections for the heartfelt blogger award:
    1. Lolidots-because her site is great, and she was the only one who sent me a little help when I requested it. Thanks.
    2. The (Un) Experienced Mom- because she most often writes posts that have me saying "man, have I been there!"
    3. Harmonysong-for our shared love of all things Stellan ;)
    4. The Zoo Keeper's Diary-because she is pretty darn funny, and what's better for the heart than a good laugh?
    5. All a Bunch of Momsense-Because even though she just received it, I still find her blog very worthy of yet another!

Now I know that is not 9, and you can call me a rebel...but I am stopping there. I would so rather do it like this than just pick 9 randomly. Enjoy, ladies.
    ***Original Post****
Yee-Haw because I just got my first taste of recognition for my little brainchildren rambling posts. Elizabeth of Confessions from a Working Mom chose me along with some fellow bloggers for this "Heartfelt Blogger" award. Thank you, Elizabeth, so much!

Now here is what I have to do:

    1. Display the award logo.
    2. Nominate up to 9 blogs that make you feel comfy or warm inside.
    3. Link to your nominees.
    4. Let them know they have been nominated by commenting.
    5. Link to the person from whom you receieved the award.

Choosing 9 additional people will take me a couple of days since I am so new to blogging. If you have any suggestions...I am all ears, er, eyes. :)
